From the time of the Prophet (sa), Islam makes it clear that it is important to encourage what benefits society, and to protect it from harm. I’zi al-Din ’Abd Salam’s short text addresses this as a legal theory, examining its sources, when it contradicts and when there is no option but harm. He does this tying it all to the sources of Islam.
