MuCH: Muslim-Christian Dialogue

MuCH: Muslim-Christian Dialogue at NYU
MuCh: Muslim-Christian Dialogue at NYU provides a safe space to discuss Islam and Christianity. The group dialogue is open to Muslims, Christians, people of any faith, and people of no faith at all with all levels of spirituality. It is a presentation of Muslim and Christian voices on campus. MuCh acknowledges the differences and similarities that exist between differing faiths and seeks to actively acknowledge them. Similarities allow people of differing faiths to come together on common ground and unity. Sustained friendships and cooperation through differences allow people to learn how to respect and honor one another.

Charisa Gunasekera is a senior at New York University who is double majoring in Global Liberal Studies (with a concentration in Art and Literatures) and in English and American Literature with a minor in Creative Writing. She previously spent two full academic years working and studying at NYULondon and is excited to be spending her senior year back in NYC as the MuCh Public Relation's Director! She is also currently writing her Senior Thesis on the issue of Racial Equity and Diversity in the 21st Century Book Publishing Industry, though her personal passion lies in both in reading and writing contemporary fiction.

Angelica Moore is her third year, studying Music Education in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development, as well as minoring in Religious Studies, in the College of Arts and Science. Her constant intrigue about how people interact to faith and religion is what got her interested in MuCh, and the people and the experiences to learn keep her coming back.

Selaedin is a current senior at NYU pursuing a double major in Religious Studies and Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies. Before transferring to NYU, Selaedin was the Public Relations officer of the Muslim Student Association at Montclair State University. Along with his current position as the MuCh (Muslim-Christian Dialogue at NYU) co-president, he is also an executive member of the Multifaith Advisory Council of NYU, and the Director of Membership of TMN (The Muslim Network of NJ). As an open minded and driven student, Selaedin very much enjoys interfaith dialogue, and exploring the history and theology of the many faiths and traditions of our world.

Arif Khalil is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Mathematics, concentrating his studies to pursue a career as an actuary. He has been on the MuCh E-Board since its inception during his freshman year, and he is currently the co-President with his friend Selaedin. Arif is also a part of the Multifaith Advisory Council, a small group of active student leaders within the Global Spiritual Life community at NYU. He has also been involved with the Muslim Student Association's Mentorship program, currently helping with their Professionals Initiative. Rumor is that Arif secretly lives on the 4th floor of GCASL and sometimes commutes home to NJ.
